Bio: Actor & Filmmaker
Jadiel is a Black Latino Emmy-nominated actor. He has cultivated over a decade of experience in front of the camera, which has sparked a passion to craft high concept cautionary tales behind it as a storyteller. The Hollywood Reporter named him "One of Canada's Rising Stars," and Playback listed him as one of Canada's Top 10 Talent to Watch. He was awarded Toronto Metropolitan University's President's Entrance "full ride" Scholarship for a bachelor's in Philosophy & Film Cinema Studies and graduated in 2022 with honours. Inspired by genre actor/filmmakers such as Michael B. Jordan and John Krasinski, Jadiel similarly has a penchant for creating and starring in entertaining yet enlightening sci-fi horror media through his production company banner Istmo Productions. His company’s goal is to create content that lives up to the timeless Cesar A. Crus quote: “Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable.”
In 2022, Jadiel was a recipient of the $750,000 Rogers-BSO Development fund for a sci-fi comedy TV series he created. In 2023, his autobiographical documentary “The Last Son of Panama” had a World Premiere at the Toronto Black Film Festival, as well as Halifax, Ottawa, Calgary, and Montreal – it will be released on CBC Gem this year. Jadiel is proud to have been the first and youngest board member on the Youth Media Alliance, where he championed inclusive programs and scholarships for emerging creatives like himself.
